Why drivers switch

Why drivers are leaving Uber & Lyft for AKI.

The five things that make AKI different from a gig app — and from an old-school car service.

💵

$400+ per shift

Drivers earn more than $400 in 12-hour+ shifts. Steady volume, no surge guessing.

📅

Route ready the night before

Wake up, drive, get paid. Your full schedule loads automatically — no app-staring required.

📱

AKI app with smart routing

Purpose-built for drivers. Trip details, optimized navigation, and live earnings — all in one place.

🎧

Dispatchers keeping you busy

Real humans monitoring every shift, filling gaps, and feeding you the next trip. Not an algorithm.

💸

Just $1.50 per trip

That's all AKI takes. No percentage. Compare to Uber and Lyft taking 25–35% off the top.

The AKI difference

Smart tech. Real people. No dead time.

Uber gives you an app. Old-school car services give you a dispatcher. AKI gives you both.

📱 The app

Your night-before schedule, loaded automatically.

Trip details, optimized navigation, and earnings tracking — all in one place. Built for drivers, not riders.

🎧 The dispatchers

Real humans filling your gaps in real time.

If there's a slow stretch, our dispatch team is already lining up your next trip. You're not waiting on an algorithm — you've got people on your side.

AKI gives you both — so you keep moving and keep earning.
Earnings

What you can earn.

Based on AKI driver earnings for 12-hour+ shifts. Your earnings depend on hours, route, and trip volume.

Weekly potential
$2,400+/wk

Six 12-hour shifts at the AKI driver baseline. Many drivers run five and still clear $2,000.

5 shifts/week × $400+$2,000+
6 shifts/week × $400+$2,400+
AKI's cut per trip$1.50

Numbers reflect typical AKI driver volume. Not guaranteed — your shifts and trip count matter.

Vehicles

Bring your TLC-licensed vehicle.

You bring the car. We bring the trips. AKI runs sedans, SUVs, and wheelchair-accessible vans — as long as it's TLC-plated and in good shape, you're ready to roll.

🚗

Sedans

The everyday workhorse. TLC-plated, clean, ready for steady volume.

🚙

SUVs

Higher-capacity rides for groups, mobility equipment, and Access-A-Ride trips.

Wheelchair-accessible vans

WAV-equipped vehicles get priority Access-A-Ride volume — strong, predictable earnings.

Built for drivers

Built by people who've driven this city for 10+ years.

We know what it's like to grind 14-hour days hoping a surge kicks in. AKI is built different — pre-scheduled routes, flat fees, real dispatch support. Because drivers deserve a system that actually works for them.

FAQ

Common questions.

How do I get paid?

Direct deposit, next-day or weekly — your choice.

Do I need my own car?

Yes. Drivers provide their own TLC-licensed vehicle — AKI doesn't operate a driver fleet. Sedans, SUVs, and wheelchair-accessible vans all qualify.

Do I need to pass a drug & alcohol test?

Yes. Because most AKI trips are Access-A-Ride, every driver passes a drug & alcohol test before their first shift. The test costs $50 and is paid by the driver.

What is Access-A-Ride?

NYC's paratransit service. AKI handles steady Access-A-Ride volume, which gives drivers a predictable, reliable trip flow as the foundation of every shift.

What's the $1.50 fee?

That's all AKI takes per trip. No percentage. No surge cuts. The rest is yours.

How many hours can I work?

You choose. We build your shifts around your availability.
